Free & Reduced Application

The Iowa Free & Reduced application is here to help families who may need assistance covering the full cost of school meals. Eligibility is determined using the Iowa Eligibility Online Application, and paper copies are also accessible at each school. You'll even have the option to view the application in different languages when you enter the site.

Once your application is processed, you'll receive a benefit determination notification via email, provided you have a valid email address listed in Infinite Campus. If not, the determination will be mailed to your home address on file in Infinite Campus. We're here to make the process as smooth as possible!

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I apply for free and reduced meal benefits?

YES! Any family who feels they may benefit from completing an application, should do so.

How can I apply?

Go to myschoolapps.com to apply. All applications must be done online. It is a quick and easy process.

What do I need to apply?

If you have a SNAP case number, you should have that available. It is a ten (10) digit number. Otherwise, you only need to list everyone in your household, regardless of age. You will be asked to list children that are students or school aged separately from any others in the household but make sure you list everyone. You will need to provide the gross income (amount BEFORE deductions) for every working member of the household.

When should I apply?

Families need to apply each year because the federal income guidelines change yearly. Income guidelines are updated in July and families should apply anytime after mid-July. It’s always best to apply before school starts so students don’t accrue debt. Benefits can only be applied once the application is filled out and are not retroactive.

Is this part of the school registration process?

No, there is a link in the registration process but it is a completely separate application/ process. If you miss the link while registering, you can go to myschoolapps.com and complete the application for free and reduced meals.

What benefits do I receive?

If your income qualifies you for benefits, you will either receive free meals (no cost) or reduced priced meals ($.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch). Those benefits may also entitle you to free or reduced school fees, which includes transportation costs.

How will I be notified?

If you have listed a valid current email address in Infinite Campus when you registered, then you will receive an email that details what benefits you will receive. If no valid email address is available, you will receive notification in the US Mail.

Are there other ways to qualify for free or reduced meal benefits?

Some families qualify through a direct certification process. In those cases, you will also receive notification of benefits. It’s very important to double check and make sure ALL your students are listed on the benefit paperwork. If not, please contact the Nutrition Office at (319) 688-1021.
